Author Guidelines

 

1.Scope

JHIES accepts scholarly manuscripts relevant to the fields of Islamic law and Sharia economics, including: conceptual ideas or critical thought, literature reviews, empirical research findings, and policy reviews or data-driven applied approaches.

2.Manuscript Type and Language

Manuscripts must be written in proper English. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of grammar, terminology, and scholarly writing style, and are advised to use professional language proofreading services prior to submission if needed.

3.Originality, Authorship, and Ethics

Manuscripts must be original work, not previously published, and not under review at another journal. All citations and references must follow academic ethics. This journal uses plagiarism-checking software with a maximum overall similarity threshold of 20%, as stipulated in the Plagiarism Screening policy.

Additional provisions regarding authorship and ethics:

  • ❧Authorship criteria. Every listed author must have made a substantial contribution to the research and writing of the manuscript, and must approve the final content submitted. Listing authors without genuine contribution (gift authorship) or omitting those who contributed (ghost authorship) is not permitted.
  • ❧Conflict of interest declaration. Authors must declare any potential conflicts of interest (financial, affiliation-related, or personal) that could influence the objectivity of the research.

4.Manuscript Format

Manuscripts must be written using the official JHIES template (.doc/.docx). Manuscript length ranges from 5,000–8,000 words, excluding references and appendices. Margins: 3-3-3-3 cm, 1.15 line spacing, Cambria 12 pt font. The general structure includes: Title, Author name(s) and affiliation, Abstract and keywords (English), Introduction, Methodology, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, and References. For conceptual or literature review manuscripts, the "Methodology" and "Results and Discussion" sections may be adapted into relevant thematic discussion sections without altering the manuscript's basic structure.

5.Abstract Structure

Written in English. Must not exceed 250 words and must include: brief research context, objective, method, findings, conclusion or implications, and keywords (3–5 keywords).

6.Citation Style and References

This journal follows the American Psychological Association (APA 7th Edition) style. The reference list must consist of at least 15 primary references, preferably sourced from reputable scholarly journals (80% from the last five years). A reference manager such as Mendeley, Zotero, or similar must be used.

7.Research Ethics and Data Availability

  • ❧Ethical clearance. Empirical research manuscripts involving human subjects or primary data must include an ethical clearance statement from an authorized institution, where relevant to the field of study.
  • ❧Data availability statement. Authors are encouraged to include a statement regarding the availability of the research data underlying the manuscript, including how access may be obtained if the data is not directly included.

8.Submission and Review Process

Authors must register and log in through the Open Journal System (OJS) on the official JHIES website. Manuscripts will undergo the following process: initial screening by the editor, review by peer reviewers (double-blind peer review), revision and proofreading, and online and/or print publication.

9.Publication Fees

JHIES does not charge Article Processing Charges (APC), nor submission or review fees. Authors are not charged any form of publication fee.

10.Copyright and License

Copyright of the article remains with the author. The author grants JHIES a non-exclusive license to publish and distribute the article. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license.
