Open Access Policy

JoISEL: Journal of Islamic Education and Learning applies an Open Access policy based on the principle that scientific research results should be freely available to enhance the exchange of knowledge, expand academic impact, and advance scholarship in the field of Islamic Education and Learning.

All articles published in JoISEL can be accessed, read, downloaded, copied, distributed, printed, searched, and used as scientific references by anyone free of subscription or access charges. This policy aims to increase the visibility of research, expand academic collaboration, and accelerate the dissemination of research results to the global community.

1. Creative Commons License

JoISEL applies the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. The full license text can be accessed at: creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0

Under this license, users are permitted to:

1Read and download articles freely.
2Copy, distribute, and share articles in various media or formats.
3Adapt, build upon, or reuse the content of the article (including for commercial purposes), as long as the attribution requirement is met.
4Distribute derivative works under any license, without being required to use the same license as the original.

The only condition binding on users is:

1Attribution: giving appropriate credit to the author and citing JoISEL as the source of first publication, providing a link to the license, and indicating if any changes were made to the original work.

This policy is in line with the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) and supports the open, transparent, and sustainable dissemination of scientific knowledge.

2. Copyright

Copyright of the article remains fully held by the author. JoISEL obtains the right to publish, archive, distribute, and promote the article as the first publication (first publication right), without diminishing the author's ownership rights over their work.

3. Publication Fees (Article Processing Charge)

JoISEL currently does not charge any fees whatsoever to authors, whether at the manuscript submission stage (submission fee) or at the publication stage (publication/processing fee). The entire process, from submission through review to publication, is free of charge. Should this policy change in the future, JoISEL will announce it openly on the journal's official website prior to implementation.

4. Long-Term Digital Preservation

JoISEL is committed to maintaining sustainable access to published articles through long-term digital preservation, including storage in the publisher's institutional repository and/or third-party preservation systems (such as the PKP Preservation Network, LOCKSS, or CLOCKSS) to ensure articles remain accessible even if disruptions occur on the publishing platform.

5. Author Self-Archiving

Authors are encouraged to disseminate their published articles through institutional repositories, research repositories, personal web pages, academic social media, and other scholarly platforms to increase citations and research impact, while still citing the original publication source in accordance with the CC BY 4.0 attribution requirements.

6. Research Data Openness (Open Science)

If an article includes research data, instruments, program code, or other supporting materials, authors are strongly encouraged to deposit them in an open repository with a DOI or permanent link so that they can be accessed, verified, and reused by other researchers in accordance with Open Science principles.

7. Metadata Openness

Article metadata (title, abstract, author names, affiliations, and keywords) is open and freely indexable by search engines and indexing services to support the global visibility and discoverability of articles.
