Author Guidelines

JoISEL: Journal of Islamic Education and Learning sets out the following author guidelines to help authors prepare manuscripts that meet the journal's academic standards, publication ethics, and formatting requirements. Authors are expected to read and follow all provisions below before submitting a manuscript through the OJS system.

JoISEL accepts scholarly manuscripts relevant to the field of Islamic Education and Learning, including conceptual ideas or critical thought, literature reviews, empirical research findings, and policy studies or data-driven applied approaches, covering curriculum and instructional development, Islamic pedagogy, Islamic education management, learning technology and innovation, the psychology of Islamic education, and contemporary issues in Islamic education.

Manuscripts may be written in proper and correct Indonesian, English, or Arabic. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of grammar, terminology, and scholarly writing style, and are encouraged to use professional language proofreading services prior to submission, particularly if the manuscript language is not their native language.

Manuscripts must be original work, not previously published, and not under review at another journal. All citations and references must follow academic ethics. The journal uses a similarity-checking tool (Turnitin) with a maximum overall similarity threshold of 20%, as set out in the Plagiarism Screening policy.

Manuscripts must be written using the official JoISEL template (.doc/.docx). Manuscript length is between 5,000–8,000 words, excluding references and appendices. Margins left-right, top-bottom: 2.5 cm, 1.15 line spacing, Cambria 12 pt. The general structure includes: Title, Author names and affiliations, Abstract and keywords, Introduction, Research Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, and References. For conceptual or literature-review manuscripts, the "Research Method" and "Results and Discussion" sections may be adapted into relevant thematic discussion sections without altering the manuscript's basic structure.

The abstract must be written in the same language as the manuscript, with a maximum length of 250 words. It should include: a brief research context, objective, method, findings, conclusion or implications, and 3–5 keywords.

This journal uses the American Psychological Association (APA 7th Edition) citation style. The reference list must include a minimum of 25 references, preferably from reputable scholarly journals (at least 80% published within the last 10 years). References must be managed using a reference manager such as Mendeley, Zotero, or similar software.

Authors must register and log in through the Open Journal System (OJS) on the official JoISEL website. Manuscripts will go through the following process: initial editorial screening (including anonymization and similarity checking), double-blind peer review by two reviewers, author revision, re-review where necessary, final editorial decision, and production and publication (copyediting, layout, proofreading), as described in further detail on the Peer Review Process page.

JoISEL does not charge Article Processing Charges (APC), nor any submission or review fees. Authors are not charged any form of publication fee, as set out on the Article Processing Charges page.

Copyright of the article remains with the author. Authors grant JoISEL a non-exclusive license to publish and distribute the article. Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, as further set out on the Copyright and Publishing Rights page.
