Focus and Scope
Journal of Islamic Education and Learning (JoISEL) is a scholarly journal publishing research and conceptual studies in Islamic education and learning, with an emphasis on integrating the pesantren scholarly tradition with contemporary academic approaches. The journal welcomes manuscripts within the following scope:
•Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and madrasah/pesantren curricula
•Learning methodology and innovation grounded in Islamic values
•Islamic education management and policy
•Educational psychology and counseling from an Islamic perspective
•Educational technology and digital learning in Islamic education settings
•Comparative studies and contemporary issues in Islamic education
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to all of its content, based on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. All articles may be downloaded, read, and cited free of charge by anyone, anywhere, as soon as they are published.

1Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication, with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0) that allows others to share the work with acknowledgment of authorship and initial publication in this journal.

JoISEL is published by PT Cabis Karya Nusantara, in collaboration with Universitas Islam Negeri Kiai Ageng Muhammad Besari Ponorogo as the journal's affiliated institution. The journal does not charge any submission fee or article processing charge (APC) to authors.
Journal History
JoISEL was first published in March 2026 as a scholarly publication outlet for lecturers, researchers, and practitioners in Islamic education, particularly those affiliated with pesantren and Islamic higher education institutions. The journal is published every six months.
