Screening for Plagiarism
MAPAN: Manajemen Pendidikan dan Analisis upholds academic integrity throughout every stage of the publication process. Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts meet high academic standards and represent original work.
Similarity screening
- •All manuscripts are screened using Turnitin at initial submission, and rescreened if the manuscript undergoes major revision.
- •The maximum overall similarity threshold is set at 20%.
- •The maximum single-source similarity threshold is set at 5%, regardless of the overall similarity score, to detect significant similarity concentrated in a single source.
Categories of violation
Academic integrity violations covered under this policy include verbatim plagiarism, paraphrasing without proper citation, and reuse of an author's own previously published text without clear disclosure (self-plagiarism).
Follow-up action
Manuscripts exceeding either the overall similarity threshold or the single-source similarity threshold are evaluated by the editor to determine appropriate follow-up action, since a high similarity score does not always indicate plagiarism (for example, due to extensive legitimate quotations or recurring standard methodological terminology). Follow-up action may include a request for revision, clarification from the author, or rejection of the manuscript, depending on the outcome of the evaluation. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism, whether partial or complete, will be rejected.
If suspected plagiarism is identified after an article has been published, it is handled in accordance with this journal's Retraction and Correction Policy and Misconduct Handling Procedure.
